Welcome to the official website of the General Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons. This platform facilitates communication with citizens and local/international institutions as we pursue our humanitarian mission with advanced scientific rigor. We are dedicated to achieving justice and dignity for families of the missing and supporting them in their quest for truth.

Established by decree of the Presidential Council, our Authority operates through an integrated structure of 7 technical/administrative departments and 7 specialized offices, staffed by 194 qualified personnel, including 22 seconded experts in forensics, DNA analysis, and data management.

Our Approach:

Expertise: Utilizing cutting-edge technologies like advanced DNA analysis and centralized documentation systems.

Humanity: Treating each case with respect, providing psychosocial support to families, and upholding transparency and neutrality.

Achievements: Documenting mass graves (autopsy, DNA sampling, dignified reburial) and leading victim identification efforts following Storm Daniel in Derna through specialized emergency teams.

Vision: To become a regional reference center, expand coverage across Libya, and enhance international cooperation.
