GASIMP Specialized Teams Recover 4 Unidentified Bodies from a Mass Grave in Tarhuna

Commissioned by the Attorney General’s Office and under the directives of the Authority’s Chairman, specialized teams from the General Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons (GASIMP) conducted search and excavation operations across several sites in the city of Tarhuna, following reports of suspected locations containing human remains.

Discovery at the Agricultural Project Site

Following the execution of 987 test trenches at the Agricultural Project site (5 km west of Tarhuna), the excavation efforts led to the discovery of a mass grave containing four unidentified bodies.

Exhumation and Forensic Sampling

Specialized teams from GASIMP’s Remains Recovery and Forensic Medicine departments successfully exhumed the bodies. They are being prepared for transfer to the Authority’s main facilities to undergo further technical examinations, collect biological samples, and cross-reference them with the families’ database.

Ongoing Operations

Search and exploration activities continue at the site in accordance with approved plans and in close coordination with the relevant competent authorities. GASIMP remains committed to taking all necessary actions regarding any new findings.
