{"id":1165,"date":"2026-06-16T18:27:58","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T18:27:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gasimp.gov.ly\/en\/?p=1165"},"modified":"2026-06-16T18:27:58","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T18:27:58","slug":"gasimp-specialized-teams-recover-4-unidentified-bodies-from-a-mass-grave-in-tarhuna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gasimp.gov.ly\/en\/gasimp-specialized-teams-recover-4-unidentified-bodies-from-a-mass-grave-in-tarhuna\/","title":{"rendered":"GASIMP Specialized Teams Recover 4 Unidentified Bodies from a Mass Grave in Tarhuna"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-path-to-node=\"6\">Commissioned by the <b data-path-to-node=\"6\" data-index-in-node=\"20\">Attorney General\u2019s Office<\/b> and under the directives of the Authority&#8217;s Chairman, specialized teams from the <b data-path-to-node=\"6\" data-index-in-node=\"127\">General Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons (GASIMP)<\/b> conducted search and excavation operations across several sites in the city of Tarhuna, following reports of suspected locations containing human remains.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"7\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Discovery at the Agricultural Project Site<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8\">Following the execution of <b data-path-to-node=\"8\" data-index-in-node=\"27\">987 test trenches<\/b> at the Agricultural Project site (5 km west of Tarhuna), the excavation efforts led to the discovery of a <b data-path-to-node=\"8\" data-index-in-node=\"151\">mass grave<\/b> containing <b data-path-to-node=\"8\" data-index-in-node=\"173\">four unidentified bodies<\/b>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"9\"><b data-path-to-node=\"9\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Exhumation and Forensic Sampling<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10\">Specialized teams from GASIMP\u2019s <b data-path-to-node=\"10\" data-index-in-node=\"32\">Remains Recovery<\/b> and <b data-path-to-node=\"10\" data-index-in-node=\"53\">Forensic Medicine<\/b> departments successfully exhumed the bodies. They are being prepared for transfer to the Authority\u2019s main facilities to undergo further technical examinations, collect biological samples, and cross-reference them with the families&#8217; database.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"11\"><b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Ongoing Operations<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12\">Search and exploration activities continue at the site in accordance with approved plans and in close coordination with the relevant competent authorities.
